Additional Information

Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS) is a condition that is estimated to affect between 2% and 4% of the population. The symptoms of FMS can cause severe impairment and are marked by chronic pain and stiffness throughout the body accompanied by extreme fatigue, poor sleep, and headache.

Research into the cause of fibromyalgia is ongoing, with the hope that improved understanding of the disease processes will lead to development of better diagnostic tools and more effective treatments.

With early recognition, patient education, and a treatment plan that combines several approaches to symptom management, most people with FMS can lead fairly normal lives.
